ON THE INCREASE

High Note
Pam Golding Lodges and Guesthouses,
part of the Pam Golding Hospitality
Group, has started the 2012/2013
financial year on an extremely
positive note following on the
successes in the previous financial
year.
A Growing Group
South Africa remains an attractive
destination for foreigners,
often semi-retired, who like
to stay active and enjoy the
idea of owning a Guesthouse,
Lodge or small boutique Hotel.
We have adopted a new title
for this growing group of clients
and refer to them as Life Style
Investors.
Recent Transactions
Less than four months into the
new financial year, three transactions
have been concluded in Hazyview,
Constantia and Milnerton with
an overall investment of close
to R20 million. We are at a
draft contract stage with a
further three transactions worth
R25 Million regarding properties

Gardens, Stellenbosch and Newlands.
All six transactions involve foreign
Investors with clients from Botswana,
Germany, Scotland, Switzerland and
The Netherlands.
Gauteng Trend
An interesting trend has been the
increasing number of enquiries regarding
guesthouses and small Hotels in the
Gauteng area. Although foreigners
still favour the Western and Eastern
Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, we are starting
to engage with Life Style Investors
from South Africa who wish to semi-retire,
stay active and do not wish to leave
Gauteng.
New Office in Gauteng
This has prompted us to open a PGLAG
office in Johannesburg where we have
a team of three experienced Consultants,
headed by Fernanda Martinez, to service
the guesthouse and boutique hotel
market in Gauteng and surrounds. The
new team has hands-on knowledge of
the guesthouse and hotel industry
and already have a number of interesting
investment opportunities. Fernanda
can be reached on +27 (0) 72 0780
384 or fernanda.martinez@pamgolding.co.za
New Addition
The PGLAG Head Office in the Cape
Winelands remains extremely busy,
which has allowed us to appoint Cheri
Hughes as a new senior Consultant.
Cheri, a candidate attorney with an
MBA degree and experience in the Hotel
Industry will assist Peter Bruil with
the growing demand for investment
in the Guesthouse, Lodge and Boutique
Hotel market in and around Cape Town
and the Cape Winelands. Please contact
Peter at peter.bruil@pamgolding.co.za
or Cheri at cheri.hughes@pamgolding.co.za
for an exciting portfolio ranging
from a simple B&B in Strand or
in Cape Town, to a Five Star Guest
Farm in the Winelands or a Boutique
Hotel in Elgin.
Hospitality
Partners Association
We are very pleased to welcome
on board our new Hospitality
Property Association South Africa
partners, Grant Thornton South
Africa and Schliemann Incorporated.
Through Grant Thornton with
representation in Johannesburg,
Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban,
PE, East London and in major
cities worldwide, we now have
the ability to assist prospective
buyers far more effectively
with accounting and tax matters.
Schliemann Inc is an attorney
firm based in Somerset West
and through Jan Schliemann we
have the extra ability to write
contracts in German, which is
a big advantage for our German
speaking clients. |
